Vieques

Isla Bonita

Vieques is a small island off the coast of Puerto Rico. Along with her sister island, Culebra, these islands make up what are called the "Spanish Virgin Islands". Vieques is very "off the beaten path" and has very little commercialism. Think 1960's Florida Keys without the alligators. Come visit one of the most unspoiled islands in the Caribbean!

The Bio-Bay

Vieques is home to the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world. Billions of tiny, single celled organisms emit a gorgeous, blue light whenever the water is disturbed. Take a night-time kayak ride into another world as the bay shimmers and glows with every paddle.

So Many Beaches...

Vieques is home to dozens and dozens of pristine beaches. Unlike many islands and other beach destinations, these beaches are often totally wild and deserted. Enjoy the cabanas at Caracas, a shady palm tree at Sun-Bay or share a beach with no more than a few wild horses in one of the more remote locations. Playa Negra and her black sands are uniquely stunning.

The Ferry

The Ferry System within the Spanish Virgin Islands is for the adventurous type. Passenger ferry's are typically on-schedule (schedule seen here www.porferry.com). Cargo Ferry's are not. Sitting atop one of the foredecks of the ferry can be a wonderful experience during sunrise or sunset, but not all the ferry's have outdoor seating. Flying is typically a much faster option, and we generally recommend flying over the ferry.

Flying to Vieques

Flights directly from SJU are the quickest and easiest way to get here. Be aware that you will need to leave security to grab any checked baggage, so plan accordingly. The other alternative is to hire a "Publico" (basically a cab) and drive to Ceiba Airport. Flights are about a quarter the cost and take around 7 minutes.

Helicopter

For our more discerning guests, there is a helicopter pad on site. We are happy to arrange transportation in this regard.
